Milo’s Tea Company success story Growing beverage company increases its footprint
Milo’s Tea Company was founded originally as an Alabama restaurant in 1946 and has since expanded into beverage production and distribution. Now a leading refrigerated tea brand and one of the fastest growing lemonade brands in America, Milo’s strategically selected Spartanburg, South Carolina for its fourth manufacturing facility. Opened in 2025, this plant brews and bottles ready-to-drink beverages for regional Walmart distribution.

Welcoming expansion to South Carolina
Located on Highway 221 in Moore, Milo’s $200 million state-of-the-art Spartanburg manufacturing and distribution facility began operations in 2025. Initially slated to hire approximately 100 employees, additional investment increased job creation to more than 200. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits and awarded a $250,000 Set-Aside grant to Spartanburg County to assist with building construction costs. Community partners, educational institutions and government officials collaborated to help the Milo’s facility open ahead of schedule with top talent on board.
A significant addition to the manufacturing industry
Milo’s is a family-owned, certified women-owned business that has doubled in size 3.5 times in just the past 10 years and become Walmart’s #1 selling ready-to-drink tea. The Spartanburg plant supports this growth, strengthens SC’s manufacturing industry and creates opportunities for the state’s workforce. Through its 1% profit pledge, Milo’s gives monetary and product donations to community organizations and invests in sustainable manufacturing practices, further supporting the Spartanburg community and its people.
“Milo’s is a people-first company, so the talented workforce in South Carolina’s Upstate is a significant draw for us. The remarkable people, coupled with ease of access to the East Coast, high-quality water, and the outstanding support of state and local economic development partners, reaffirm that we made the right decision to put down roots in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.”
